So is Jakob not going for the 5k world record in Oslo 3 days prior to Stockholm? Ik its only been rumors, but it has really picked up traction these last few weeks.

Does this mean Jakob wouldn't run the 5000m? (serious question).
I just start to think now bigger picture about this guy and his record ambitions. He's right in the middle of his career window where these things need to happen. He's not going to have a career where he is capable of running WR's for a decade.
The 5000m in Oslo made the most sense - even if it was just a step towards going for the record (something in the high 12.30's, low 12.40's ballpark). If not there, where does it happen this season? I know that he's contracted to Lausanne for at least the next couple of seasons and there is no 1500 this year but a 5000m - I guess something would have to happen there.
To give a hot take, maybe Jakob's 5K time potential is overrated. He has said that 3K is his sweet spot, and he ran horrible at the 13.1 distance. A fast 3K/2M may not translate to a fast 5K as well as we think. After all, Josh Kerr can run a fast 2M but probably not even 13:20 for 5K. We're talking about a full extra mile and a lap, for a guy who has focused on the 1500 and not even raced a 10K (outside of road or XC races with weak fields).
