How else can wages increase in America without costs going up? Are you a liberal that agrees with the $7 dollar minimum wage?

I’m a liberal who doesn’t try to get minimum wages changed.

Tariffs won’t last. Trump wants these countries to make a deal. As soon as they come to the table to deal, a more favorable arrangement will be made for both parties.

People don’t get it. Trump just wants to force better trade deals. They’re acting like these tariffs are permanent.

Every politician in the Democrat party is dogma bound to push for increasing the minimum wage.

Whatever you think you believe is irrelevant when the people you vote for believe the opposite in lockstep.

anywho - the reason goods can be made cheaper overseas is US workers expect to be paid a lot, plus heath care. Once they unionize for better pay, companies simply take the jobs elsewhere. If you were a corporation, you would as well. this is simple economics. Who ever will do the job cheapest, gets the work. Fat, lazy Americans lose.

The point is efficient comparative advantage in the market.

I don't support these tariffs but I admit you actually make a really good argument. If Biden implemented a mandatory $25 minimum wage, us democrats would CHEER even though costs would go up significantly.

And there are those of us who didn’t like a ton of Democrats’ ideas before. And who didn’t like the hypocrisy of most politicians generally.

And guess what? We didn’t like a lot of Trump’s ideas either, not least some of the ones that were half-baked versions of ideas previously held by Democrats. And we’re more concerned about him, because in a sea of people of low character, he’s arguably the one of lowest character. And his ego is such that he’ll probably never admit he’s wrong, and he’s the sort least likely to learn from his mistakes.

Why do people not understand that we cannot bring manufacturing back to the US?

We can never match the Asian nations for their combined cheap labor and labor pool willing to work long hours. And secondly they are already set up to manufacture, the US would have to rebuild from scratch.

Since when did Democrats prioritize CORPORATE PROFITS ahead of workers rights? That's what Republicans believed 20 years ago and us democrats called them evil for it!

Democrats have done a complete 180 on American's wages just to attack Trump for political points: "Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the universe, can't afford to pay you $20 per hour. You are going to work for 7 dollars an hour (in terrible working conditions) and if you don't like it, you're fired!"

If you look at these tariffs as a mechanism to boost the minimum wage, they actually make a ton of sense. I support massive minimum wage increases and thus I support these tariffs.

Honestly this Morning Brew video made me change my mind on some of the tariffs. It is a nice watch to get some of the reasoning behind the tariffs, especially on China.

If you don't watch a big part of it is the slow reaction and inability of the World Free Trade Organization to do anything.
