Get an antenna. Mine was maybe $30 from Walmart and gets me ABC, CBS, NBC & FOX all crystal clear. Those 4 have all the major sports that are non-ESPN broadcasts. Those 4 channels get me the sports plus the morning & local news. If you want your Dateline NBC or American Idol types of shows those are on the big 4 networks nightly. If you really need ESPN just pair the antenna with a SlingTV subscription, it’s the cheapest way to get ESPN and I think it’s around $40/month.
It can be finicky so you will have to place it in a few areas and scan for channels to see where it gets the best reception. Or go big and get a rooftop/outdoor one for $100+ and you’ll have no problem. Remember your current cable bill is well in excess of $100 per month…
A little warning: the antenna will also get you 50 channels of garbage soap opera and telenovelas that you don’t need so you can actually delete the channels you don’t want in your tv’s settings if it has a Roku or similar OS. I slimmed mine down to just the 4 major networks.
My parents do an antenna + a few streaming services. They actually rotate monthly between Hulu, Netflix, etc so they only ever have 1 per month and just watch what’s new on the one they currently have and then cancel and swap to another streaming service the next month. Keeps the movie and show rotation fresh I guess. Startup cost is $30 and monthly bill is maybe $20
Moral of the story: get an antenna, pair it with a streaming service or 2 if you want. Cable is a scam
