Wow, a 16 year old dead and a 17 year old going to prison for a very long time, maybe even life, over something that was probably stupid and inconsequential outside of high school athletics. The article doesn't say what led to the stabbing. It could have been an entanglement on the track for all we know. May the boy's family get justice for the life of their son.

Bullsh*t. I’ve been following sports for many years and have never heard of such a thing until today. One guy did one thing out of hand and is personally far gone.
As hard as it may be sometimes, it is just best to avoid confrontation. Too many people are unhinged. What happened to a simple fight? Some rights and lefts? Not even kicking. These days folks want to poke you, shoot you, crush your skull with a rock. Whether it is road rage or at a sporting event, there are far too many examples of people just going too far. I mean you get your uniform and spikes ready the night before, you eat a good breakfast and mentally think about your race(s) and oh yeah, i better bring my knife?

News report said argument over seating area in stands. Teams had set up their tents and laid stuff out for start of event. Most likely kids from two different teams and argument started over their areas. Yes, stupid.
