Is this unique or a proven method to move the treadmills outdoors for healthier tan skin and wind practice?

Was your coach wearing a clown mask when this occurred? Does he also forbid running on the beach?
I don't think the "wind" is a valid factor because for all you know, the wind will be blowing the wrong direction most of the time. Maybe just getting fresh air is what he was talking about?
"Sunlight" is indeed important (vitamin D) and being outside is good for you anyway. So there is no harm in that unless you are getting a ton of UV or direct exposure. What latitude are you at?
Personally, I like to drag my rowing machine and spin bike into the driveway rather than workout in the garage because the air, sunlight, temperature are better. But that is just me, I don't do it for any "benefits" other than that I like it.
The real question is why does the team run on treadmills in the first place? How bad is it just running on the roads/trails from campus? Don't you have good/safe routes to run near your school?
If you’re going outside why wouldn’t you just run on the ground ? You know , like a normal run.
At least you get some air flow

Indoor you get absolutely zero wind practice.
Treadmills you can do many types of incline and pace adjustment that you can't do by just running on your feet.
I'm fine with doing this type of training. Just wasn't sure if it's normal or not because this is my first rodeo with being a college runner. Therefore, hes my first and only coach also.
They should make a treadmill version of the ElliptiGo. That way you could not only take the treadmill outside, but you could actually move forward through space while running.

Please remember to pull the treadmills under the gazebo/shade before there is rain in your area.

You could put a treadmill in the bed of a pickup truck and run it off the outlet . Most trucks now have a 120v outlet

In my opinion that’s a great idea. All the studies suggest that vitamin D is really important.
Theres not many ways to simulate environmental resistance such as wind when training indoors unless you put one of those huge fans in front of the treadmill and turn it on full blast. Then you'd be running into the wind. Guess your coach didn't think of this.
Regarding the sunlight issue, I'd just go to a salon.
How many total treadmills did you move and how far did you have to move them?
What about a wind tunnel?

Good idea. But I wonder ahout the health of the machines. Maybe up on platforms and good covers.

A bit under 400 meters. Moved by hand, 2 runners at a time. All 16 of us distance guys participated in the move.
Apparently the rest of the treadmills had to stay indoors for rec usage and the other teams to use.

Precisely. If the weather is nice enough for an expensive piece of equipment to be outside, seems you could just go for a run outside. "wind " isn't really a thing on a treadmill, unless you're in Wyoming.
