I think her presence at The Ten means she is not "off the grid." She seems happy and having fun figuring out her next move as an athlete.
What would you do if you were a national class athlete but not a world class athlete? Would you let Letsrun haters shout you into retirement or would you just live your best life?
p.s. Triathlon is too fast these days for non-specialists. The days of being a great one-sport athlete and then moving over to do well in ITU style racing is over. Everyone in triathlon is just too good, too professional, and too fast. You have to be good in all three disciplines.

Ok I'll bite. If she takes her work seriously, she would quietly show up, pace the racers and use this as a workout/race simulation. That's it. Instead she has to show up in a costume so everyone knows she's not actually racing, and almost impedes the runner to the right of her on the start line as her rabbit ears fall off. Disrespectful to the other racers and actions like this are why people have negative things to say about her.

Sure, you bring up a good point. But that would be less fun and perhaps the athletes like the positivity and the energy that she brought to the track.
I don't know, because I am not a 20-something up-and-coming female athlete, but I imagine they appreciated Quigley's approach. No need to make everything so humorless.

She says she will be trying various races on the track this year minus the steeple. It will be interesting to see if she can post a fast time in the 1500 or 5k to be competitive. I’m assuming the triathlon experiment is on hold or dead.

She said she's not doing any more steeplechases or any more triathlons.
I think she realizes that no matter what event she does she is no longer good enough to make a global team, so she might as well run whatever event makes her happy.
I think if Colleen made a USA final in any event, that would be pretty good for her at this point in her career.
