I may be showing how long it's been since I was in high school, but why does a single high school need 12 T&F coaches?
It helps to have more coaches to individualize each event group, albeit yeah, 12 is pretty excessive. Mine had like 6-7 and I graduated a few years ago
It’s been a while but I know as a State Colorado used to pay coaches quite poorly, like a $500-$1000 per season. Can’t imagine that the district being this generous
The school district states that no children were involved.
I speculate one of two things: a financial violation where the coaching staff used district money inappropriately or without authorization or the staff had some sort of “planning/team bonding” event that involved naughty behaviors of some kind that got reported to the district office.

This school has about 2,000 students, it’s pretty typical of schools this size to have 150+ kids on the track team. 12 does seem a bit much but some assistants barely get paid and some might have been volunteers.
In light of this week’s WH administration shenanigans, I am guessing that a group chat got leaked where the coaches were either talking 💩 about people or rating the looks of minors on the team. In both circumstances, the administrators would have no choice but to fire all involved.

My school is also that same size if not a bit bigger, if anything I remember it was a struggle because one season we barely had 3 or 4 and it wasn't enough. Ten years ago they probably had like 8
That's 9 coaches that I would easily expect any serious track program to have, although some schools might rely more on volunteers for some of these positions. It doesn't seem too crazy to me to add in another sprint coach, distance coach, maybe a 400/800 coach and an additional coach in whatever field events you have a high number of participants in.
Rumor around town is they had a few beers on campus after hours. Seems a bit excessive but school districts are extremely strict with that kind of thing

This is correct, alcohol on school property after a meet. It may seem excessive but it violates District policy and shows poor judgement. Maybe *this time* they didn't invite some of the kids on the team to partake, but who knows what other poor choices they would make (or have made) that went unreported. Blows my mind that not one of ten coaches said "Hey guys, maybe this isn't the best idea. Lets go to my house down the street and have a few pops."
Also makes me laugh that people think 12 coaches for more than 150 kids, male and female, JV and Varsity, doing jumps, sprints, throws, distance, hurdles and pole vault is excessive.

Right? I was in marching band and we had almost 150 members and we had ... oh, wait. We had two.

This x1000. Coached for 30 years, never once couldn’t show a little self discipline. And I f—in love beer!

I'm so glad I work at a Catholic school where the administration literally gives us booze at end of semester parties (with no students around, of course).
I think it's a stupid rule (again, assuming they weren't responsible for any students at the time), but I find it hard to believe that the coaches wouldn't have been aware of the rule. And if you're aware of it, just drive a few blocks to a bar.
The Fort is famous for its many micro breweries. They tend to start kids on beer soon after they are weaned off the teat. Probably just offended some Puritan Pilgrim transplant to the area.

Did it say somewhere they were all paid? I didn't see that. Some are volunteers?
