I'm in the middle of marathon training right now, and used a 10k race as a tune up. One unusual thing I noticed is my HR slowly decreased over the last 3 miles. Now, I felt like crap pretty much the whole race. But that's to be expected somewhat during a marathon build. But I did feel like I wasn't able to really put a good effort in during the final couple of miles. That said, I wouldn't have thought my HR would decrease as much as it did. And it was a steady decrease, not a sudden drop as if the data just went wonky.
Am I just not in a position to put in a full effort during marathon training and this was my bodies way of letting me know? I'd appreciate input on this.
