so basically he finally got a job? The pro-athlete bit feels just tagged on the end:
Tracksmith has their Amateur Support Program (including Cravont Charleston & Mason Ferlic - who is also sponsored by Adidas), some of their employees run, but there's no history of actual full Pro sponsorship? LR even reported that when Charleston was supported by Tracksmith, he was still unsponsored. So how is suddenly Sam a 'Pro athlete' with them? Seems fugazy, just an employee who still runs
He's a respectable runner who frequently qualifies for world teams. If there are opportunities being presented to him that means he has earned them and has every right to take them.
Germany international @par_sam_sons has officially signed with @tracksmithrunning as both an elite athlete and a creative partner. Sam has played a key role in shaping the creative side of track and field, pushing the sport forward through innovative content. This partnership feels like a natural and exciting next step for both Sam and Tracksmith!
Awesome opportunity. But do they have competitive super shoes? Also spikes?
Tracksmith has historically allowed their athletes to wear other brands' shoes. Incidentally they released their first "super shoe" this week. It looks much like a rebranded On Cloudboom Strike with a different upper.
I do also wonder if this means a Tinman wide deal could be on the way? Tracksmith seem like the only major brand who would be willing to support the team aspect of it while also having Reed and Drew under different brands? Kind of matches the same aesthetic for both Tinman and Tracksmith? Young guys with too much money to spend on gear

In a sport with no money I think the definition of pro can and should be blurred, if you can qualify for a US/National championships or if you are knocking on the door, I think you should be considered Pro. But if you're loud about while living off of mommy and daddies money then LetsRun should be allowed to make fun of you.
Sorry, I don't make the rules this is the internet.
He is essentially sub elite. Absolutely zero money there. It seems that this is all just about him making a fuss over himself on the Internet. Jesus Christ, where is the integrity nowadays?

It's not quite as bad as that. It's just that tracksmith see value in Parsons as a content creator / influencer rather than an as a athlete (or at least not exclusively so).
No doubt the content that follows will be incredibly self indulgent, but it's basically just Tracksmith saying (and Parsons accepting) that his athletic accomplishments alone are not worth paying for. But that if he just makes his entire life a Tracksmith advert they will continue to find his athletic pursuits.
Potentially a bit of a comedown for someone who clearly rates their own ability highly, but he's gonna get another chunk of time to play at pro running so he's probably happy enough with it.

Sure it is. His times are not competitive on the world stage. Not even close.
