If she's being held to the same standards to make the team this is insane. This almost seems like a point to the talent doesn't matter crowd. Either that, or Conner somehow managed to pick someone quite talented to marry.
10 women ran sub 9:40 this indoor season for BYU. I am seeing 10:20 is her best mark thus far...that's real good for someone so new, but no way they can justify rostering her with the impending caps. Unless, they just admit they are doing her husband a favor.
17:19 5000 and 10:20 3000 on World Athletics. This is a very interesting anecdote for what non runners could accomplish if they trained optimally. I'm sure her training since she started like 2 years ago hasn't been perfectly optimal, but it's gotta be way closer to that than average with her being married to Conner.

Wouldn't be surprised if she gets into the low-mid 16s at BYU which has got to be top 5 percent talent for a woman, if she really didn't run before meeting Conner that's some absolutely insane luck. Excited to see how fast their kids are now, lol

To be fair her 17:19 5k is equivalent to a 9:59 (VDOT conversion) or 10:01 (world athletics points table conversion), so its unfair to be using her 10:20 performance to make this comparison. My guess is a spot opened due to injury, and this time is fairly equivalent to what BYU's weakest freshman walk-on or recruit would be running, and she would have just as much upside as them.

She is a senior and they don't have roster limits this year. Roster limits start next year.
She has run 17:19 off of extremely little training in 2024. She might be able run 16:20 this year with real coaching and training partners.
She's 23. Mean age of first birth in the US is 27.3
I understand that living in mommy's basement keeps you ignorant of the world, but there are some couples that can't have children due to various factors. Not saying this is the case, but it does happen.

I mean wild if she was related to Ryan Hall. I guess it would also be wild if Chad Hall had a child when he was 13 that was Mormon. Different kind of wild.
