Final will be interesting - Jakob will need to get that standard for a double at World Indoors, now that he’s confirmed he’s going. It won’t be a slow race with him going for the standard, any thoughts on how the rest of the field will respond?
ER is 7:24.68, CR is 7:38.42 for Wavelight purposes btw.
But do you actually need the standard if you win europeans? Rankings?
There are only 15 bibs in the WCI 3000m. One is awarded as a wild card, and the remaining 14 are for results achieved in the qualification period between 01 SEPT 2024 - 09 MAR 2025.
Each country can only enter two athletes and as of now there's 1 wildcard, 9 who met the standard (7:31.00) and 5 from the top list (7:31.50 - 7:34.17).
Jakob hasn't run any 3000m or 5000m races during the qualification period so he needs at least a 7:34.16 tomorrow, or potentially faster if he doesn't win. That is if he intends to double at the WCI.
Among the rest in the final you have people like Almgren, Nillessen, (West and Bremm) who could also run the standard.
