Couldn't be more wrong, people need all the $$$$$ they can get especially today. Eggs...13 bucks for 18, milk over 4 bucks, gas over 4 bucks a gal, it's crazy, stupid/smart. doesn't matter at all. You need all the $$$$$ you can get, lucky for us we have $$$$$$. I pity those not as fortunate, Hard times out there,
Most people need more money. But probably 60-70% of them. And nearly everyone needs to be less stupid. I’m pretty convinced of that, but you may not believe me — because I myself need to be less stupid.
Slavery still exists because 40-60% of people are living check to check, basically. Same result aparently, they have no money prior to getting paid each week. Even if the minimum wage became 100k per hour, the cost of living would rise accordingly. The matrix wants many people living close to thw poverty line. Until the people protest this reality in mass, things will not really change.

Slavery? Okay bro. Common sense is lacking in this country, not education. I see it daily on the roads, in the stores, and with these 304s I meet on the reg. How many of these 40%-60% are college educated and aren't very smart? Most of them. How many of these people living paycheck to paycheck make enough money but their spending habits are terrible? A lot of them. Probably overpaying for a car monthly. Probably at the starbucks drive-thru daily. Probably living in an overpriced apartment when a mortgage would likely be cheaper. Brush up on your slavery history because it doesn't exist today, at least not in the U.S.

Some americans are terrible with money — they are not cautious enough, and they indulge their wants too often to develop much financial security.
I have known a lot of frugal people, and there is a certain amount of eccentricity in not spending the way regular people spend.
I can remember my brother owning only two pairs of work pants: a brown pair and a black pair. He figured he was a below-average dresser, but was doing the world a service, because someone‘s gotta round out the bottom quartile.
I remember Ben True once made a video or a post on twitter (no clue why I happened to come across it) about having one pair of day pants. I find that charming in a rugged way, but i realize that some people find it creepy.
meanwhile, people buy the car with the heated seats, on a payment plan.
The average IQ is like 105 these days. Are you saying those people should just "be smarter" or what?
If you are saying people should make better financial decisions, you are assuming they have money to make decisions with.
The truly poor in this country are working two jobs and barely keeping their heads above water. The only thing that might bring them joy in life is their kids, which take every penny of their money.
It is never as simple as "just be smarter and have fewer kids."
Of the 50 U.S. counties with the worst child poverty rates, 48 are located in rural America. Yet, these regions are often overlooked when it comes to visual storytelling. The short film Class of ‘27 takes us to the very small town of Booneville, Kentucky, where most of the residents live below the poverty line and employment is mostly limited to the school system. It’s a moving documentary which aims to expand the current narratives surrounding rural poverty in America. These are not destitute regions whose residents are unable to achieve more advantageous surroundings, but areas that have been deprived of resources and are moving towards investing in the next generation. “The stereotype that bothers me the most is we have less complicated lives in rural places,” says the Kentucky-based writer Silas House. “No matter where you live, your life is complicated and has great joy and sorrow.”
A long time ago I read about a survey which asked people how much would they need to earn to be financially secure. The typical answer was not a specific amount like $100k a year but rather, twice as much as I am earning now.

Thinking intellect trumps finances is ridiculous it does't never has and never will. Being smart and broke does not stack up to dumb and rich.
There was an author in the 90s, who used to say that she had never met anyone trying to get out of debt, or trying to make ends meet, who really was doing everything they could. i totally agree with this.
low-income people sometimes prefer to buy new rather than used. And sometimes you can save a bit of money by buying used.
low-income people sometimes buy pre-made food and consumer junk. i am not sure I‘d be buying those things if i were living with very limited funds.
low-income people sometimes have pets that they can‘t really afford. it‘s another mouth to feed, and veterinary care is not free either.
i sometimes feel that low-income folks suffer because they had no decent role models on how to be smart with money. Low-income people are sometimes children of parents who spent money foolishly and taught their kids no better.

The 3 things you mentioned are things that I don't consume at all.
If you're going to name essentials, then name things that are actually essential.
