Not wrong. Sorry but those times just aren’t that impressive. Screams more of a weak conference.
Classic letsrun. “Oh I'm not gonna consider it was a tactical race, I'm just gonna jump to conclusions while I sit on the couch”
“Big Sky Conference, oh they never have distance all americans”.
Yeah it drives me a little batty when posters seem to think every race is a time trial. It speaks to their experience level. First 409m for Congdon was 1:23.7, basically 5:30 pace. Last 600 was 1:36.27, 4:18 pace. Practice for a tactical nationals/speed work/just getting all the points for NAU.
So here is a question. I would think that most runners who can run 53.74 and 4:02 could run 1:58 or so. Her best is 2:02 so maybe she is due for a breakthrough? Of course I know that the altitude might help the 400m slightly. But it seems she has some real 800m potential.
54 400m (converted slower for altitude advantage) is very good for a professional middle distance female after other events, so I am impressed. It suggests a good future.

4:50 for a collegiate is not that fast anymore: it’s just not.

Don't forget she also repeated another 53 - 400 as part of the record setting 4x4 team. She was leg 2. The only faster leg was Perry by about .7 seconds. Perry win the 200 and 400 this weekend
Her speed is impressive and will be very useful as she continues to move up in distances. Mile seems to be her sweet spot now but imagine a 3k with that kick and her aerobic ability she has shown in XC. Shes also a really great person.

53 is world class speed for a Miler. Remember, Keely Hodgkinson couldn't get under that for quite some time.
She could’ve placed 21st in the SEC 400m and it would still be an impressive performance considering she is a miler. That’s excellent speed - especially for a collegian.
