Looks like Prakel and Houser will try to get the standard in Boston next weekend. If they hit it (or come close), they will be your team. If not, one of the guys behind them could get in if they run fast next weekend. Waskom (11th at USAs) is actually in position to get an invite from World Athletics as things stand, but I expect Prakel and Houser to leapfrog him next weekend.
Man. Waskom was due for a good one this weekend and he crapped the bed. On a good day, he wins that race. He looks so tense and scared out there right now.
His move ~900 to go put him in 3rd place for all of a few seconds. He then faded to the back almost instantly. No confidence in his racing. I feel bad for the dude
Kind of BS outdoor marks don’t count from last year. Pulling for Ciattei to somehow get it, two 4ths in a row especially after a 3:31 last summer is pretty brutal
Can you imagine being a US 3:31 runner and literally not in any conversation about the 1500m in the USA?
Going forward, he is the best runner in America that might never make a team (besides Cooper Teare).
To be fair Ciattei has only been at that level for 1 year and he’s 30. Are you betting your house that Gary Martin, Ethan Strand, Parker Wolfe (yes BS) and Colin Sahlman all make a team at some point. Someone crazy good and not a late bloomer is going to join Teare as a high profile guy who doesn’t make one. And I do think Teare makes the Tokyo squad.
