Event Entries: The event entries will be released to the official clerks for the declaration process and again once seeded for distributing hip numbers (section and position assignments). No running athlete should assume this...
No Yared…bummer. 5K has in-form Jacobs and Robinson too along with Drew Hunter who’s intriguing.
Yared was originally entered in the 3000 but was dropped a couple days ago. Had mentioned he was considering another indoor race but apparently decided against it.
All the 5000 guys need their 13:01 Tokyo Qs so expect the race to unfold like the Hocker/Teare race a couple days ago where 3 guys broke 13.
However, after how Nico looked and talked after his 3:50-point mile last week, left wondering if he's looking for a bit more than that.
How interesting. Addy Ritzenhein in the mile. She’s arguably a stronger 3000 runner.
This is not new. High school runners like to compete and post times at 800, mile, 2 mile,9 xc, dmr 4x800, even 4x400 if they have speed. Most high school runners are not specialists.
Can Graham run 7:30 like everyone seems to be doing this year? The field does seem a little weak to push him to a time like that.
Sure. That's likely why Graham's racing.
No team to qualify for. No contractual obligation.
Just a time trial.
Your college peers have run 7:30. And you're better than them.
So, go out there and break 7:30.
Leaves one wondering what Yared had in mind when he was first entered.
Just a 7:27 pr? Or an attempt at Grant's 7:22.91 WR?
Very real possibility Yared pulled out because he knew he could get the former but had next to no chance for the latter. So, no point in racing again until GST.
What's the point in Blanks running a 3k this late in the indoor season? USAs has gone, he can't go to WIC so it's not for a QT, and the field here is distinctly C-tier. It doesn't seem worth it when there is a decent quality 5k at the same meet. Odd choice

Most likely just a tune up race and probably was excited to race Nguse in a 3k. There’s no reason for him to run the 5k as he has the standard. He already ran the 1500 so probably just using this as a workout. He also can jog to BU from his dorm.
What are the odds of a sub 3:53.82 in a conference meet by someone who is not already top 16? Wolfe maybe.
well there are about 18 guys within 1 second of that most of whom have teammates who might just run a hard 800 and decide to drop out? Stranger things have happened. So I would say odds are greater than zero.
You race to get race sharp and to do underdistance speed work. He'll want to be comfortable in the low 7:40s through 3k in the 5000m. Why not knock out a 7:28 to stay atop the fictional all-collegian, eligible and ineligible, rank order list?
