I am just glad that a pro is talking about it openly. It seems like it was the most obvious change in the last few years --- a way to ingest sodium bicarbonate without stomach discomfort --- and yet there were very few pros talking about their personal experiences.
The thing is, now everyone has to do it. It works, so if you don't do it, you are leaving seconds on the table...

Your last assertion is a ringing endorsement for doping period, not that you intended that.
The problem with PEDs is that they are bad for your health. Otherwise, they would just be vitamin supplements. Bicarb isn't bad for our health.
It's probably just a dumb fad though. I find it hard to believe that something so obvious has only recently been "discovered". Also consider that athletes might be getting paid to promote bicarb supplements.

Yes, I see that now. Oof. I didn't mean that.
I meant it more like "well, drinking a stiff cup of coffee seems to result in better race times..." You don't have to drink caffeine, but it does work.

The way to deliver the Bicarb so as to digest it effectively, without negative side effects, is what has been discovered. That Bicarb aided performance was obvious for decades, but the side effects almost canceled it out, now it far far more effective and has no negatives.
