Just now in another deep HM in Japan, Tomoki Ota and collegian Kotaro Shinohara became the first 2 Japanese men to break 60mins in the half. Times unofficial but finishing 3rd and 4th they improved their PBs from 60:08 and 60:11 to 59:26 and 59:30 respectively.
Kenyan Olympian Alexander Mutiso won in 59:16 unofficially, which if confirmed is a new course record and WL (both by 1 second). Fellow Kenyan Emmanuel Maru improved his 59:43 PB down to 59:18 for 2nd.
Similarly to Mantz in Houston, Ota improved the old record considerably but it felt like a long time coming even though Yusuke Ogura's 1:00:00 from 2020 was not nearly as old as Hall's mark.
Full results aren't out yet but many guys under 61 including Haftu Strintzos and Rory Linkletter I think.
