I don't care what table you or they use 3:53.x is in now way equiv to 3:31.78, not even close, 3:36.5 at best

A 3:53 indoor mile converts to a 3:36 outdoor 1500 at best???

Actual conversion to 1500m using speed from that race: 3:37

To claim 3:36.5 is only giving cam a half second improvement going from indoors to outdoors. I'm optimistic he'll get more than that.

Indoor to outdoor conversions are a complete waste of time from 1500 on up.

Pretty crazy an Australian 18 year old running a U20 WR 3:53 and a 15 year old Kiwi running a 4:01 U18 WR the same day, different meets.

The odds of that happening a decade ago would probably have been rated here about a million to one.

Crikey! Well done, mate. I'm really excited to see what Myers can do in the 2025 season. Who is the best Aussie runner in the 1500m/mile at the moment? McSweyn? Hoare? Spence? Myers? (I'm not too up to date)

I got my eyes up for him when he did his 3:55.44 mile while still only 16 (I first heard about him when he did a 4:07 mile at age 15). I almost didn't believe it. As a Norwegian it hurt a bit to see Jakob's legendary 3:56.29 mark beaten. Out of all of Jakob's insane age records, that was one of the most impressive one. (I even watched it live) I was expecting it to last for ages. But it "only" lasted for 6 years. I did not expect the rise of megatalents like Laros and Myers. Myers' U18 mark of 3:33.26 was insane as well. Hope he has a great season in 2025 (both indoor and outdoor). I'm guessing Myers will compete in world indoors in march?

Also, big respect to Fernandez for being the world record holder for 16 years.

What is most impressive is that this was his first indoor race and he is still only 18. Is there a video of the race.

He said in the post-race interview this was his first time running on an indoor track including any workouts.

Who knows that implies for an outdoor conversion, but definitely makes the performance more impressive.

Will Myers be able to match any of Jakob's 2019 marks, or any of Laros' 2024 marks the upcoming season (The year all of them turned 19)

Spencer was nowhere close today. Not sure whats up with him. Race video here. Renewiecki went out hard for the pole and then had no interest in the pace. So ended up pacer had to slow up, and it was not a fast pace set. Myers took over the second half and kept it at 29s before 28-lo finish. Fogg was primed to go by but was maxed out and outkicked by Lagat. Kipkoech fell out of the top 3 with a 61+ last 400.
