Kind of crazy there wasn't a thread on this when it was announced. He's also a former WR holder in the 100 yard dash as his 9.3 in 1960 tied the world record .

Back in the ‘70’s and early 80’s - Moon’s Seton Hall sprint teams competed very well against the national powerhouses at the Penn Relays!
Amongst other athletes, Coach Moon coached Kevin Lyles who has a pretty quick couple of sons.
In the early1980's he would have some of his quarter milers run in some cross country races.
Am I correct in assuming Mark Wetmore coached under John Moon--late'80's/early 90's??

Yes. There is nothing more that says assistant than being an assistant to John Moon.
Moon was the last sprinter to beat Bob Hayes, beat him in a heat, so...hmmm? He was out of Tennessee State, the school that gave us Wilma Rudolph and the Tigerbelles, a college 4x1 team that won the 1960 Olympic gold.
Also ranked in the 100, ah....USA rankings
