I loved his self-deprecating humor. I use his "I must be in the front row" line all the time. Most have no clue what I am talking about, but I always give myself a chuckle.
I'm not a baseball guy, played it a bit as a kid like most, but I wouldn't consider myself a fan of the sport. But living in a neighboring state, I end up driving through WI a fair amount in the summers. And if I caught a Brewer game on the radio and Uecker was on the call, I'd stop scanning and listen. That's when you know someone has a talent to entertain and bring people outside the sport into it. A really rare talent. RIP.
