Vause from New Mexico just won the national title for high school cross country.
I ran for UNM and we got 9th at nationals with an entirely New Mexican team. UNM is just going a different direction under Darren Gauson.110 -
On paper, if everyone's healthy and firing in the Fall, Coach Gauson will have a xc squad set to take it to Alabama, BYU and NC State.

According to TFFRS- New Mexico had 41 runners on their roster. Only 5 seniors. So even if they added NOBODY- they’d still have to cut from 36 down to 17 per the pending NCAA rister limits. That’s 19 current runners being cut WITHOUT adding new talent. If you’re joining this team you better be as good as this Kenyan or you will be cut from the roster just like half the team is about to be.

I ran against these guys way back in the early 2000s at NCAAs and even then they were still operating with international students. I don’t blame them either. Albuquerque wasn’t really my favorite place for a track meet.
