That is like saying, "what's up with Presidents Day? I'm over those old, dead guys..."
We created this meet to celebrate the memory of one of the icons of our sport in America - The Prefontaine Classic. It is the best pro meet in America.
This year will be 50 years since the creation of that meet, so whatever they are planning is of interest to all of us in the PNW who will, as usual, be going to the meet.
p.s. Why bother clicking on a thread that doesn't interest you? I never click on thread that seem boring to me.
When I was in 5th grade I checked out the book Pre by Tom Jordan from the library and that was the start of my love affair with running and track & field. Looking forward to it and hope it lives up to the moment.
A spokesperson for the rock has stated that Prefontaine will finally be charged posthumously for reckless driving, DUI and felony property damage for what he did to that rock.
I totally understand the myth of Pre, but the myth is a getting faded and tired at this point. Since Pre, the US has had other guys run brilliantly and win Olympic races wire-to-wire (e.g., Centro).
That instagram post has the cringiest comments. One guy thinks Pre's death needs to be investigated, another thinks he had a "long, flowing" stride at 5'7". Do you know something, Rojo? Being coy doesn't suit you or this site. Do you work for the Pre Classic or something?
