FYI, if you use TrainingPeaks along with Stryd, it may be worth knowing that the Stryd iOS App (at least; no idea on the Android one) appears to no longer download non-power-based workouts, and at least for my use case appears to not download even power-based workouts.
Which is a real bugger when you have an Apple Watch (gotta get a Garmin or Coros or Polar!) and want to use the only real, high-quality footpod out there for treadmill or indoor-track structured workouts from TrainingPeaks.
Apparently the Stryd folks have gotten more touchy with their community, and they regularly lock down community discussions in the Reddit community about things like this. They did it to my post on this topic, and multiple others, and they banned me for continuing to try and ask about it.
Fun fact—I figured out WHAT the issue is from the mod who banned me replying to a Facebook Stryd community post on this very same topic explaining the issue (an apparent bug downloading non-power-based workouts from TP, which was fixed, and an update is supposedly in the works to bring down non-powered-workouts properly).
Dunno why Stryd appears to shutdown discussions on Reddit, but engages with them on Facebook, and even provides quality replies on topic.
(Also not sure why the 4-year "bug" is just now being "fixed" . . . because I've been using Stryd in this manner for about that long. Ah well.)
SO! If you are having problems with Stryd and TrainingPeaks working well together (the uploads of workouts FROM Stryd to TP still work well!), you are not alone! And you're not crazy!
And supposedly they ARE working on it! Just don't bring it up on their Reddit community, because u/StrydAngus might ban you for it. (He is, supposedly, one of the developers . . . so maybe this hit a sore spot for him? Dunno.)
Nah—the footpod is legit hardware. Their subscriptions? No thanks. But, man, it is the only good footpod I know of out there.
Happy to consider others, but I haven't found any. Closest was some Zwift footpods, but they don't always work well, and are shoddy and lose connection.
With the emphasis on watches, footpods have sadly lost a lot.
There is the Garmin HRM-Pro with running metrics—kind of like a footpod, but not placed on the foot. I've thought about that.
I think there is a Coros one now, too, but I think it only works with Coros?
Reddit mods are often little dictators. On r/sandiego the mod has some rules like no sunset pictures, don't discuss the padres for instance. On some subreddits, moderation teams are even worse than on letsrun as hard as that is to imagine. The only thing that keeps people from noticing is how fast discussion moves.

Ha. Yeah. Well, and Reddit targets companies to encourage them to use Reddit as a third-space for community management and discussion. Guy who banned by—u/StrydAngus—is apparently the developer of the app.
There were not less than 3 other recent posts on this that got closed (to their credit, not removed!) with a note to use their "support" button at Stryd.com to get more help (which I did, and got no help, sooooo . . . ).
I am glad I found the answer, and I'm trying to get it out on the interwebs as much as possible.
But, yeah, that Reddit community is corporate-controlled and useless.
And, so may be my Stryd pods in the future.
I'm no Coros fan, but their footpod may be the best option.

I wonder just how many of the subreddits have paid community managers or even mods posting as part of their work duties. I bet its high. I don't really think about it much but more than a few communities probably have someone on the payroll of big companies trying to steer discussion and opinion. I would either stop using stryd if you're po'ed enough or else make an alt account for discussion on that sub - something that takes just a few secs. You can get enough karma to post freely just by posting on an easy upvote nature pic sub or wherever.
What specifically do you think it a scam about Stryd?
I'm intrigued by run power, but don't fully grasp all of its uses.
It doesn't seem to be nearly as useful as power data on the bike.
I've dabbled with Stryd and find some of the data useful. I don't use it for pacing during races and workouts, but I think it provides some useful feedback after the fact.
I also found the footpath data helpful when I was overcoming runner's knee, and also when reviewing the data after races.
For me, probably the most annoying thing about the Stryd communities (Reddit/Facebook) is how defensive folks get when you question the product.

Oh, it's a common thing for companies to provide support through channels like Reddit and Discord. And both Reddit and Discord encourage it. A number of company-specific Reddit communities are moderated by employees of those companies—they are not organic user communities.
To be honest, this is not a bad thing per se. But, yeah, it does mean the company will shut down conversations it does not like.

Ya, I can see why a technical gadget like stryd would have user engagement for questions and stuff. I can't imagine posting on something like r/pepsi though, somewhere like r/max I might to discuss a show or an error I encounter and that would be a prime place for a paid poster. I wonder how many of the book subs I use have posters that work somewhere like penguin publishing or if advanced running has someone on the payroll at nike or another shoe manufacturer.

And I asked a question similar to many that had been asked, including on your Facebook page.
And you bothered to answer that Facebook inquiry, so it clearly wasn't stupid there.
I'm not sure why Stryd's community managers and employees are so damn sensitive.
For what it's worth, I like the product. I do. I like footpods—you run enough inside in cold climates and you know their value. And Stryds footpod is, as the market stands now, the best.
But these yahoo community managers who are so thin-skinned they have to shut down dozens of conversations on their Reddit community, and hide behind the excuse of "click here for support?"
Man. Pathetic and childish.
I like Stryd, but if folks like this are involved in running the company I am less sure it will survive this highly competitive fitness wearable space.
Which is a shame—I don't think it is a scam.
To reiterate, the issue is a known issue at Stryd, according to their Facebook page, and the non-power-based structured workouts were never intended to be imported into Stryd's calendar from TrianingPeaks. A bug was fixed, and these stopped. Supposedly they are working on a new update to allow non-power-based workouts to be imported again in the future.
Despite what "real_kellen_olmstead_four" might claim, it was NOT a stupid question, many had issues, many asked similar questions, and the very guy—Angus Nelson, Stryd's app develop—who locked my post (and I think banned me from their Reddit community for 7 days) answered the same "stupid question" on their Facebook community from dude named Leander Janssen, per this link that ANSWERED my question but was too hard to cut and past into my question on Reddit, or the multiple before it:
But hey, Angus and Kellen "the Fourth!" don't think it's worth their time and would rather spend that time locking community engagement posts down on Reddit.
It's a sure fire way to build up community cred and goodwill! Muzzling them! I mean, you can't know if they're upset or have issues if you can't hear them!

For the record—despite what Kellen "the Fourth!" below and Angus Nelson, aka StrydAngus might think—I don't think Stryd is a scam.
It is an excellent footpod. It shows more accurate real-time pace. It is also pretty accurate for distance. This is very helpful for indoor running—whether on a treadmill or an indoor short track. I live in the frozen midwest, and during the winter myself and the folks I help train do a good bit of indoor running (when there is a blizzard, or it's -5 degrees outside, etc).
Power, I think, is also pretty good. I agree with you that it's not as good as cycling power. It is getting better, though.
The idea is that run power is a real-time effort metric. Heart rate lags, and you can get heart rate drift. Power doesn't.
Pace can also do this in a more controlled environment, but to a lesser degree. Indoor tracks are an example—no winder, all flat, pace can be close to power. However, power can sometimes more accurately reflect training fatigue during reps.
Therefore, power, if you calibrate it right for the individual, can be a good way to manage intense workouts at threshold or VO2Max without having to take lactate measurements, etc.
You can also manage some of this with a combination of heart rate data, pace data, and RPE, but that takes more experience and juggling multiple metrics (one of those rather subjective).
So, I do not think it is a scam. And I think the Stryd footpod is the best out there.
Even so, for myself (slow, non-competitive athlete) and the athletes I train (high schoolers and middle schoolers), heart rate and pacing efforts are typically just fine. Plus, we use TrainingPeaks and FinalSurge to manage group-based training logs and to structure workouts. For my athletes shorter runs, we haven't seen how we can implement power-based training well as of yet. Goals for 400 to 3000 so far are easier to manage on a group-level with heart rate and pacing zones and efforts.
Also, Stryd has only recently created a coaching ability (coaching accounts) in the last year or so.
Stryd is a good product, in my opinion. In fact, I'd go as far to say for the average runner looking to improve from 5k to marathon distance, or get into running at those distances, their product and subscriptions can likely get some great results! (Me? I'm just too damn slow. I'm not even a hobby jogger—more like a hobby-shuffler. Sigh.)
There are some other issues Stryd footpods have. The clips break. The clips don't hold Stryd footpods on well, and folks lose them. There are some third party clips that work better, thankfully. The pods can run into breaking or tearing issues. Even so, still the best footpod out there.
Closest I've seen is Coros' footpod, and that requires a Coros watch to work. Stryd works as a footpod in most apps and on most watches, so kudos to them!
Just wish their community engagement teams and support folks would be less sensitive and fragile, and maybe answer questions (or let the community sort it out) instead of locking it down, calling questions stupid, and acting like they are under siege or something.
Then again, maybe they are? I dunno. If so, keep up the good fight Stryd! Circle those wagons and keep telling folks like me our questions are stupid! I'm rooting for y'all!
Also, to be fair, the main reason I got Stryd, initially, is so I could do structured workouts from TrainingPeaks on my AppleWatch. At the time, the Stryd app was one of the few ways you could do so. Turns out it was only because of a bug, because none of my workouts were power-based. Sigh.
