against my high intensity emphasis if the book training of belgian athletes is right luc van lierde wr holder(i dont know if still but i think so) trained like 99% extensive like lance armstrong most of his years at verry verry low heart rate. Ofcourse if the book is right. He did at least 6 months of build up where he remained his heart rate at 130 or lower.
That was 45 km a week of running,25 km a week of swimming and 300 of cycling.i think most triathletes did more intensity with less success.BTW his peak in running(according o the book was at 100 km a week) with maybe once 6 x 1000 meters at race pace.He did a great 2:35 in ironman marathon of that. Ofcourse his other event mileage went up as well to(according to the book) but mostly it was around that(low?) number.
As far as i read things about lance i think he didnt do to much anaerobic training as well in his most succesfull years.Bu i think you can correct me on him since i only saw some stuff some people throw on the web.Anyway just think about it.45 kiloemters a week peak to 100 2 weeks. And boom 2:35.
He is a 1 / 1000 000 000 tallent i think, way to few people talked about him, he deserves credit.I mean he could swim a 45 minute ironman swim in his best!!!run 2:35 marathon in the ironman that is great wouldnt ya think.Ps just try to swim 400 meters in 4:48 you'll get an idea of what the pace must be like.In running terms it would be equal to a 48 minutes 10 mile run i think!
