Had a few friends in that heat, and they said it was a cool event, well run and enjoyable. Might go see what it's like for myself next year.
I've always wished that we had more track meets here in California this time of the year that aren't the winter champs (HS only). Most of us race hungry peeps have to settle for testing our post XC / base fitness on turkey trots instead.
The negativity on these boards never ceases to amaze me...
No difference from Instagram and Facebook. A few idiots making inflammatory comments, a few overly zealous defenders, a bunch of normal type posts, some off topic spam, and a lot of arguing/infighting.
I think a lot of people don't understand what training at the top level of the sport requires. I also don't think Bowerman, at the time she was there, did the best job developing long term involvement in the sport.
Somewhat related -- is she still interested in triathlon? Maybe she could get a second wind there. Still an opportunity to do well at long course with a so-so swim.

Quigley announced 6 months ago that she was giving up on the steeplechase. A month ago Quigley announced she was also giving up on the triathlon, but she said that she still wanted to be a competitive athlete without going into detail.
The problem is that it doesn't seem like there is something besides the steeplechase and triathlon that she can be competitive in at this point in her career. It seems like she has transitioned into a social media influencer without actually admitting that's what she's doing.
