Even the announcers are saying this game was a dud and that because of Indiana the rules are going to change next year to prioritize strength of schedule.

Facts, bro.
Yes, record was the most relevant criteria. Indiana played no one except getting blasted by OSU. SMU also didn't beat any good teams either. Not like Bama deserved a spot anyways. 12 teams is definitely enough, maybe more than enough.
Down 27-3 in the 4th quarter. They are lucky Notre Dame has had so many injuries otherwise it would be 45-3.
The selection committee should have factored in their pathetic strength of schedule.
It's a DISGRACE that they are in while Miami and Alabama were left out.
Nah. Indiana had only one loss, and the regular season counts for something. Want to make the playoff? Don't lose 3 games. Alabama didn't do enough to get in. No guarantee with 2 losses either, but this year there were many teams with 2 losses, so many got in. Miami needed to be a one-loss team to get in.

Then why did Florida State get left out last year?
Just about every team in the SEC would beat Indiana by 14+ points.
HUGE difference between the top 4ish teams in the nation and the 10th-12th.
This 12 teams thing was a big mistake,
Not sure about that. Georgia team that was lucky to beat Georgia tech. Texas who lost to that Georgia team and beat a couple of bottom 25 teams. Penn state who played 2 good teams and lost. ND who lost to niu. Oh st who lost to Michigan. Ten who lost to ark. And it isn’t like Oregon was much better than Boise at or Ohio State.
shove the top 16 teams into randomized brackets and run it a 100 times I wouldn’t be shocked if 10 teams win occasionally.
They were still a 1 loss B1G team. So what ya gonna do? Can't put a 3 loss Alabama team in over a 1 loss B1G team just because they are 'bama.
Alan
The big 10 sucks, and they played the weakest schedule in the big 10.
It's not just because they are 'bama, it's because those players are clearly better than Indiana's.
Indiana would only have 3 wins if they played Alabama's schedule.
I wouldn’t say the B1G sucks, as OSU and PSU both have the teams built to go deep. However, fans of the B1G *always* think they are the deepest conference in the country, which just isn’t true.
However, IU definitely did not belong. They literally only beat one team with a winning record all year in 7-5 Michigan. Read that again, only one victory over a team with a winning record.
They definitely need to re-evaluate the system for next year and a better way to assess strength of schedule. Indiana was a fun story, but I never felt like they belonged. I think they would’ve gotten schooled by a team like Ole Miss or South Carolina.

Yeah, no one wants to see half the tournament be SEC teams. Miami lost to Georgia Tech and Syracuse and beat no one good. They didn't deserve to be in at all. They had the easiest path and didn't get it done.

Agreed. Alabama not only lost 3 games, they lost their 3rd game 24-3 in late November to mediocre Oklahoma. They had their chance and they blew it. No playoffs for Alabama.

Indiana only had one loss. Not their fault that the teams on their schedule weren't good this year. Michigan was last year's national champion. Not Indiana's fault that Michigan wasn't good this year (other than in the Ohio State game). Not Indiana's fault that there weren't many teams with zero losses or one loss.
I think that the teams should play more.conference games to make the season essentially be part of the playoff. Then take the top 2 teams from each P4 conference plus 4 more teams.
