just cause the elites jog around at 7:00 a lot of the time doesnt mean that they have to. Im pretty sure CJ albertson does his 20milers at 5:00 with a HR of like 150

Yeah but Albertson's a marathoner, Fisher's a track racer. Their long runs should look very different.
How many guys can run 18miles at 5:22 pace with a HR of 142? is not the right question
The right question should be: How many guys can run 18 miles at 5:22 avg with a HR of 142 AND close a 5K or a 10K in 52 seconds?
I was shocked to see that Marco Arop (the 800m runner!) just did 13.1 miles at the same pace (5:22). They could never be training partners because their goals/skill-sets are too different but it did make me smile trying to envision it.

That’s nothing!
Running World's calculator takes 12:46 5000m and spits out the following training paces. His 5:22 pace for 18M is at the low (fast) end of the easy pace and long run pace. But was this at altitude? If so, it is impressive. If at sea level, it's understandable how his heart rate was so low.
Distance: 5 Kilometres
Time: :12:46 h:m:s
Your training paces:
Easy Run Training Pace: 5:24 Min/Mile
Tempo Run Training Pace: 4:29 Min/Mile
VO2-Max Training Pace: 4:03 Min/Mile
Speed Form Training Pace: 3:46 Min/Mile
Long Run Training Pace: 5:24 - 6:08 Min/Mile
Yasso 800s Training Pace: 2:05 Min/800
Grant Fisher is coached by Running World’s calculator.
We did this after his last long run posted on IG. We have no idea what is max HR is. That could have been 70% of his max. 75%. 80%. We have no idea. Same thing happened when Coros released Jakob’s training data and everybody freaked out about his training there.
IF this workout pace and heart rate add up to another medal, hopefully gold, thats all that matters. He's already proven he can contend. Stay healthy, stay hungry. Workouts show fitness, not tactical prowess. Been proven many times a lesser fit athlete can still win on any given day. All you can guarantee is with a little luck to go along with all that fitness is that you might have a chance. But it's worth it! Soon, it'll be gone forever.
Why is this run noteworthy at all for Grant Fisher? He's run 12:46 for 5K, he could do a run like this any day of the week. And his reported HR is totally irrelevant.
w/o knowing his max and resting HR, the HR data on this long run is meaningless.
When I was 25y and in peak shape (~4:00 1500m) my max HR was 176, not even close to my 'estimated max HR' of ~195. My resting was 37-38.

I think you mean to say that when you were in peak shape, you were unable to accurately determine your heart rate either at max or resting.
You have to see things from percentage perspective. Each second is not the same for a 4 min miler vs 6 min miler. This simply is on par with his training level. It's not that fast.
4 min miler at 5:22 is 74.53%
6 min miler at 8:02 is 74.53%
this thread, you clearly don't remember when rupp was medaling at 10,000m and running his long runs at 515 pace

This thread is written by the Alaskan Fishery department, it’s all about fishes and fishing for fish 🐠.
I don’t get why are people interested in this athlete. He is illegitimate in my book 📖! 15:22 for footlocker xc yet is outlasting and outrunning and out training Chris Derrick (14:57) and German Fernandez (15:07) into his late twenties and not slowing down at all!! How doped up is that?
Chris and German didn’t even win the footlocker race in 2007 and got trounced by A LOT by an even crazier Brazier-like talent in Michael Fout who coasted easily to a 14:50 win over then both. And what happened to him? His career was even shorter than both Chris and German’s. How is Fisher not dead at 26?
LRC is finding it harder and harder to justify this illegitimate athlete.😞

You mean he has run 12:46 on micro doses? While Chris Derrick snd German Fernandez can’t even seem to paddle properly? Always reference these 2 athletes in any comparison with Fisher.
