He slipped under a lot of people's radar despite running 1:49 as a sophomore last year. Considering he ran 4:07 last year and then opened up this season with a 5-second 1k PR, I'm gonna guess that he ends the season at 1:47 and sub 4.
considering only three HS Juniors have ever run under 4, and he seems very primed to do this over the next 7 months, I would think he would be hyped more.
Wow, this guy is disgustingly talented. Supreme raw speed. 53/4:39 in his first year in 8th grade, 2:29 indoor K as a freshman + 51/1:54/4:18, then sophomore 1:49/4:07. What on Earth?? The 2020's are a crazy time to be a fan of running
I don't know what his training is like but given he can barely break 15:40 for 5k XC, if/when he finally decides to run more than 30 mpw it's over for the rest of the high schoolers

Does anybody have details on his training? Would be interesting to learn more.
His high school coach that got him to where he is left the program and he’s been working with outside coaching. His team absolutely shrunk this year with only 7-9 boys on the cross team and a few girls. He Had a little injury at the beginning of the cross season that cost him some training time.
He doesn’t do big volume and works on speed often so this isn’t too surprising.
