The new efficiency guys say it is inefficient and annoying.
Surprisingly it is not healthy. Research suggests that daylight saving time can increase the risk of:
Heart attacks
Strokes
Abnormal heart rhythms
Sleep disruption
Mood disturbances
Suicide
Diabetes and obesity
Poorer mental health
Lower cognitive performance
Increased risk of motor vehicle accidents
Disrupts circadian rhythm
Daylight saving time disrupts the balance between our internal clocks and social schedules, which can lead to:
Inadequate sleep
Decreased attention
Increased metabolic and cardiovascular issues
Mood disorders
Shortened lifespan
"The concept was invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, who believed that rising earlier would save money on candles. It was first implemented in Germany during World War I to conserve energy. The United States followed suit, and the Standard Time Act of 1918 began DST in the country." With LED lightbulbs, I don't think energy efficiency is going to justify keeping it. So, why should we keep it?
