They come up with an excuse every year, and their fan bois defend them in this decision.
Frankly its ridiculous that no one among our top runners runs any of the classics in Europe as part of the World Athletics Cross Country Tour. I don't even think people here are aware of such a thing.

Its so weird how cross country seems so important at high school and college, just to be totally irrelevant after that.

Most elite Americans don’t run XC so no need for an excuse or for their fans to defend them. Given that USATF XC is in the mist of indoor track, it makes sense that most take a pass and The Ten is just a few days before World XC.

Grant has publicly expressed his desire to run XC but also that there needs to be better incentives (financially and championship wise)

Fisher essentially saying I would, but my hands are tied is bs. Present and future US pros can back up their "expressed desire to run XC" by being more assertive in contract negotiations and ensuring financial incentives/compensation to compete in the World Athletics XC Tour are in place.

What kind of incentives does he need? Its not like Jakob gets any real money for his xc win.
Don't know what Jakob makes or doesn't make and maybe things have changed financially. But an Irish friend who was a very good cross country runner would find cross country races on the continent to run when he wanted or needed to pick up some money. Most of those races are gone now and I don't know what goes on financially with the ones that remain. But a big reason US runners don't run in European cross country meets is that their season conflicts with our indoor season which is a lucrative place to be for US runners.
