One of the most impressive doubles I have ever seen. Hocker's Indoor Mile/3,000m double at NCAA's and Nico's 7:37/13:22 from last year are other one's that come to mind, and we all know how their seasons ended up after those performance. Loving this for Yaseen, such a fun guy to root for.

agreed. Great double. Fortunately for him though, he'll be able to peak for September 2025 when he wants (assuming he hits the standard, and with a 7:34 3k he should be able to run 13:01 5k if he wants). Not having to deal with the bs trials will make it MUCH easier

It is a nice double, but you might want to remember that someone like Yaseen can probably run 27:10, so that 5000m is just a little faster than his 10000m pace.

What do we think he would have run in the 5000 if he had run it fresh instead of the 3000 - 13:03? Seems like a pure strength guy

bs trials? I don’t think any system would be fairer. If you want to say just take the 42 best guys and end up with 5 Americans/Kenyans and 8 Ethiopians I mean OK. Like Luis, though, Abdalla can plan his season easier and that’s a definite advantage. 13:01 I bet he can run but it’s not guaranteed. Happy to see this breakthrough from him though, I really enjoyed his post-race interview, he’s a competitor.

Mu was at least the 3rd best US woman in 800 this year. yet the fall meant she wouldn't make it. UK has at least 1 discretionary spot
Incredible what decent coaching can do. Look at what he was running last year under Carlson. Yaseen's a stud under Pete Watson. Is a dud under Sean Carlson. Is a stud again under Chris Bucknam.
