How about NJ's own Marco Langon running 13:14 for 4th at only 20 years old. Who would have known that out of that incredibly stacked 2022 class he would be the best collegiate runner of them all
Following up on his 15th at NC cross, I thought he would squeak under 13:20. This, is another break through. Murphy and he were very very good HS runners, neither was a FL top 7 or a National leader at 3200 or two mile. It kind of does show if you stay the course? A lot of things are possible. Thats an 11 sec drop for Murphy and 14 for Langon. Both ran 7:43 or better at 3K last year.
Devils advocate: Grant Fisher ran 12:51 running solo from even further out last year. I think the lapped runners cost him a bit and maybe having some more comp helps a smidge but he was pretty close to his max today. 12:59 is nothing to scoff at though.
Oh, shush. Grant Fisher is a full-on pro several years older than Blanks who didn't train for a NCAA XC season before the 12:51. Stop comparing apples and oranges.
