Both go 7:30 at BU to absolutely shatter the collegiate record. Strand with a huge kick to nip Wolfe at the line. The future of USA distance is bright and it runs through Chapel Hill.

I know. they have someone to train with that's about their speed, and that's obviously helping them.
I'm jealous of their amazing lives: UNC isn't at altitude (unless they're taking online classes this semester and training in the mountains.) All they have to do is KEEP HEALTHY (I know, easier said than done) through the next semester and NCAA GLORY awaits!!
Abdalla running 2:11 and 7:34 within a few month span...
2:11 is not that impressive but 7:34 is.
It IS impressive in the context of a full collegiate season training for XC and track, but you know that, and I shouldn't feed the troll and let you hijack the thread.
What an unbelievable run! Imagine being Gary Martin and running under the old CR and finishing 4th, 6 seconds back. Wow.
I mean yeah Kerr is World Indoor Champ at 3K. Do you want to compare them to Jakob next? The performance is impressive especially for Strand who I don’t think has close to the equivalent at 1500/5000 roughly 13:02 and 3:33.

Also does show off the gap between NCAA women and men tbh. Wolfe/Strand are maybe 8s back of everyone but Jakob (Girma, Yomif, Aregawi, Kerr etc) in the 3k. The top NCAA women ran 8:45 which is 25s back of the top elite women and slower than their 10K pace (and much slower than Monsons 5K pace).
NCAA men is just at a crazy near fringe medal dark horse level at this point for 5/10K

they're both seniors. so the future won't go thru them.

Although it’s a great performance, this really does put the springy BU track performances in context. Outdoors they would also be around this time as well. Maybe a little slower.

It's a shocking set of times right after xc with one speed workout at 60s or faster just this past week. But when you recognize that 7:30-7:32 3k correlates pretty well with 13 flat 5000m or just under, you recall that Parker Wolfe was in the top three at US Outdoors in the 5000m, and you know that the top guys in the NCAA right now are high 12, low 13 guys in the 5000m, it is less surprising.
