This seems odd. I know UCLA voluntarily agreed to the penalties, but in the wake of the agreements of the NCAA settlement, it seems to me that any policies that may have been transgressed, they were policies that were anti-student athlete rights. Weird time to actually make this an issue, especially as the alleged transgressor is no longer with the program.
The violations that Brosnan committed weren't "anti-student athlete rights" but rather they PROTECTED the rights of the student athletes.
Do you really want college coaches to be allowed to contact the parents of the athletes on opposing teams prior to entering a transfer portal?
Do you really want college coaches to be allowed to actively recruit any athlete on any college team, even if those athletes have never expressed interest in transferring?
The NCAA is protecting athletes (and parents) from being endlessly harassed by college coaches. It's pretty simple, if you want to transfer, then go in the portal and there are NO RESTRICTIONS. Before they are in the portal, it's a massive violation of the student's privacy, freedom, and peace of mind.
Not sure why anyone thinks this is a big deal. This happens from time to time with a lot of programs. It looks like a two week reciting ban. Most Likely from something the school did or missed. Not sure why anyone is getting their panties in a twist.
Every single Brosnan thread has a pattern of SEVERAL pro-Brosnan posts made within several minutes of each other, and they all immediately upvote each other. Check out this pattern:
A post at 5:41pm then NOTHING for close to 3 hours.
8:23pm - Circle K Run - pro brosnan post
8:26pm - Go Bruins? - pro brosnan post
8:30pm - Bruinignorance - pro brosnan post
8:33pm - No Bruins - pro brosnan post
8:38pm - Same Bruins in 2024 - pro brosnan post
Nobody is posting, nobody cares and then SUDDENLY for 10-15 minutes there is an explosion of posts all saying the same thing. All posts are suspiciously spaced apart in exactly the amount of time it would take to switch devices, go to letsrun, find the thread and make a post.
And then the thread goes silent again because nobody cares.
I am not accusing Brosnan of posting all those posts because everyone who accuses Brosnan of that gets their own post deleted.

We get it, you’re obsessed with Brosnan. My advise is to let it go. UCLA is a major University and makes its own mistakes and its own accomplishments. I don’t think the posts help anyone.

You should see some of those SEC schools with NCAA violations. This is just another day for the NCAA. Who wants to bet the NCAA is gone in five years anyway. Football wants out and they are about to go. This will be the beginning of the end of the NCAA. Especially for cross country and Track & Field.

The fvck are you on about 😭 I'm just some random kid who saw a weird UCLA post on their IG and wondered what the people here had to say about it. I guess I missed the news that Brosnan violated the rules or whatever
This punishment is a result of Brosnan’s recruiting violations last year. NCAA punishments take a while to adjudicate. So he’s not coaching and has a book coming that no one has read, what else did I miss? He won’t coach ever again.

It does happen from time to time for an individual coach to serve a short ban, but for an entire women's cross country and track & field staff to be shut down for 14 days, is significant. I can't think of specific times this has happened in our sport recently, what are other examples? This also overlaps with the first 14 days of the cross country transfer portal window. I can't imagine UCLA's cross country staff is happy with this timeframe. They will have no access to undergraduate women looking for a new home, many of those women will be signed by the time this ban expires.

This definitely from something recent. Its more strange they posted it on Instagram. No matter what it is they did, it won’t affect them much at all. Two weeks is nothing for recruiting
