this is pointless speculation in my opinion. she established herself as the fastest of all time last weekend and we should be celebrating that. but a high school NXR race and the NCAA Championships are universes apart on so many levels. there are a million factors that lead to how any given race plays out. our focus, like hers, should be how she will do at NXN. and Im going with its hers to lose at this point.
she will likely continue to be a great runner in college if she stays healthy and Im looking forward to watching her there as well. interestingly when asked about her future on the college level she often pushes back and separates herself and her accomplishments from what the women of BYU are doing and have done. she did several times on Saturday as interviewers were trying to tie together her record setting win with the the BYU womens accomplishments just hours after the Cougars had won a National Title. so even she would find this kind of speculation pointless and a little insulting to the current BYU athletes. the kid has always been very mature for a high schooler and she continues to impress me with her perspective and humility as much as she does with her running ability.
