Imagine BYU brings in the same amount of foreigners as the other powerhouses. NOBODY would touch them for years on end

After the mission trips they would be past their primes unlike the Americans who finish in their primes after the mission trips.
You don't have to be a church member or do a mission to attend BYU. (Rory Linkletter is just one example)
They aren’t going to bump a Mormon for a foreigner. BYU isn’t 98.5% Mormon for nothing.
No danger of that happening...
Foreigner and Mormon are not mutually exclusive. There are several foreigners currently on the track and field teams who are also LDS. There have also been foreigners who were not LDS.
The mother of the #3 on the women's team today is from Ecuador. She was an XC All-American (14th) for BYU around 25 years ago. Her daughters who have dual citizenship rep Ecuador in international competition.
Once Africans start being white people, BYU will recruit them.
Smart Smart Smart Smart Smart
And when we teach the kangaroos to invade Iceland, Iceland will be screwed.
Won't happen.
A) They don't need to. They just won without doing so.
B) Not many Africans are interested in going to a school that is basically exclusively white people. The demographics of BYU can't be appealing to Africans.
C) They usually have their pick of pretty much any American recruits they would like to get their hands on. Take last year for example. They got 1 of the 3 sub-4 milers (Hillhouse) and a 13:25 national record holder (Simmons)
D) The appeal to BYU runs well beyond the time at BYU. In terms of professional future, it's clearly one of the most promising programs for an American. Mantz, Young, Rooks, Linkletter, Corrigan all Olympians. Clinger 5th at Trials, Ward, Wayment, Morgan all successful Professionals.
E) Eyestone is arguably the best coach in the US, and same goes for Taylor. So many Americans want to run for them that they don't even have to look to Africa.
BYU once had a Kenyan back in the early 80's. He really didn't do anything of note. Was always "hurt" or "injured". I think he lasted about 18 months there. Never ran any fast times.
Team without 28 year old doped up Africans wins.
Letsrun: They should bring in more Africans, then they can win.
26 year old Casey Clinger. What a joke. His baby due tomorrow. Still a senior at BYU! How do you train for xc, full time student, and pay rent, bills. You don't. Your daddies have to pay. So irresponsible to get married while a student
Pretty sure most 4+ of their runners are married
More than half of the men's team is married. Some were married while freshman at BYU.
the mormons have had churches in Africa since the 1930's. they've spread their religion all over that region. if they wanted to at any moment they could put together a team of elite Kenyans that not even Dave Smith or those UTEP teams of the 90's could envision.
will never happen though.
Mormons are bigger in west Africa than east Africa. Far more likely to bring in football players than distance runners.
they occasionally bring in Samoan football players (they have a huge outreach in Samoa)
