I’m not sure I get it. I realize this accomplishment is very difficult. I also have no doubt that there are some people, probably in the low thousands, who could run a marathon a day for seven straight days. But who would want to and what does it prove? Her final marathon was grindingly slow, which is entirely to be expected, and she probably risks some sort of long term injury from accomplishing this feat.

The number of people who could run a marathon a day for 7 straight days is no less than 500,000.
C'mon you crabby ones who refuse to be impressed! It's Jenny! You know, World Champ middle distance, proven many times to be tough and fast and competitive. Nice person (I know because she responded a few times to my posts--the likes of me!--) commenting on her victories. It is a heck of a goodby and a salute imo. Bye, Jennie!
The question would be why would someone waste the money / energy on something like this? You’re looking at about $40k per person for flights and not spending real time at any of those destinations. Not to mention the huge carbon footprint.
I seriously feel guilty driving 15 minutes to run on trails instead of from my house, and meanwhile we have people on a chartered jet flying literally around the planet to do this.

You know you’re right now that i think about it. I respect Jenny Simpson and her great career but this is just something to do to get publicity.
She retired too early. Maybe she had enough of the grind but she could have had a pretty good marathon career for a year or two more.
Eh, pretty good doesn't cut it when you've been the world champion and an Olympic medalist. She's 38, and she probably just wanted to check off the marathon box and see what she could do giving the distance an honest try, which she did.
Lots of lame and negative posts, here. I think the negative folks are missing the point. She's not trying to impress anybody with amazing times or a superhuman feat of endurance. She felt that this would be a fun and challenging undertaking and a great way to end an amazing career. I wouldn't personally find this to be my kind of fun challenge, but objectively, seems pretty cool and good for her if she is enjoying it.

Maybe in her new non-pro runner life she wanted an accomplishment that the average hobby jogger would be impressed by and could relate to.
Ya know, not everyone would understand why someone would waste money/energy on something like flying all over the world to run 1500 meters (you mean it's not even one mile? You did not even do 4 laps?) against maybe only 12 or so other women.
