Impressive but I’m not sure what to make of him. He had 3 huge targets this year and started off nailing World XC but then big disappointments at the Olympics (way off podium) and Copenhagen (beaten convincingly by Sawe, over 58’). He did PB in the 5,000 but I wonder if he should leave the track behind.

Leave the track behind after running 12:40 at age 23? That would be a rash decision. Kiplimo had a bad showing (for him) in Paris, and he missed Budapest due to injury, but he medaled in Eugene and Tokyo. With Cheptegei moving full-time to the roads, there is now a void at the top of the 10,000 meters. Kiplimo should see if he can fill that void.

Totally fair though 23 I’m not 100% on - means he was ridiculous at 10,000 at age 15. He just hasn’t progressed like I thought he would on the track. Moreover he seems a little deficient tactically and in the kick. After 2022 I thought he’d be the guy, but it looks more like Aregawi at 10,000 and Jakob at 5,000 will be the odds-on favorites

Also it says Jakob Kiplimo on the homepage... not sure who that is, is it a legendary runner with all the strengths of Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Jacob Kiplimo combined?

Good point on his age. Even if he's a year or two older than his listed age, I still think it's too soon to give up on his track career. We know progression is often imperfect. I like the 10,000m gold medal chances of a guy who can run 12:40 and break world records at 15k and half-marathon (except if we're talking about Kejelcha). Many people here thought Fisher's kick would never be good enough to medal on the track, and we saw how that turned out.
