tried to lean LOL
What a 🤡
Absolutely wonderful.
Definitely looked like he tried to block the other runner at the end, if it would have had any impact on the result I might protest. Looking like a moron should be reward enough
I know it happens to different people over the years, but probably everyone who does this has seen video of and laughed at others who have pulled the same error, or similar ones like football players dropping the ball before the goal line. Surely he has seen Molly Huddle in 2015, and perhaps the one from maybe 2006 or 2007 or so where a kid lost out on the Illinois state title this way. Since the error is so obvious and there are so many examples of it, it starts to feel like that fish from Spongebob, "how many times do we need to teach you this lesson, old man?!"
Douglas Buckeridge (Purdue) clearly tried to Impede and cut-off poor & honest William Zegarski (Butler) IMO. A blatant cheat move IMO. Should have been DQ'd IMO even if his deliberate impede wasn't successful. No way Douglas Buckeridge (Purdue) continued in a straight line.
Is this what Australians have become/resorted too? Seems like only a few years ago John Landy was helping other runners up who had fallen. Oh how times have changed.

Time is a flat circle.
the is the cross country equivalent to a football player spiking the ball before crossing the goal line.
Who the hell cares about a Regional title? The big game awaits.
I assume Michigan State cares. Would they have gotten to NCAAs if they got third?
It’s less devastating when it’s just a regional race and he qualifies either way but it is still funny.

Typical Boiler.
Don't know what's sadder, the early celebration or the fact these guys are running so slow.

Purdue?
Purdon't!
The viewing angle is not ideal, but I think it was a last-second acceleration and lean that turned into stumble, rather than an attempt to block the passing runner.
The other guy was going so much faster, not sure the Purdue guy would have won even if he had been paying attention. Certainly a bad look though. Funny how it impacted two other teams advancing (per the LR article).
