Duke only races 2 women at regionals?? 1 DNF's.

Love these D1 teams that tell a 9:20 boy or an equivalent girl that they just aren't good enough for their elite roster, and then pull BS like this.

I 100% agree with that! There are plenty of fast NC girls who would love to have the opportunity to run at Duke and they are ignored. This is just sad to me.

Did they all get sick or injured? The school endowment is big enough there is no reason for them to claim poverty.

But do these girls meet Duke’s academic standards for female student-athletes ??

Duke cares about academics, like any decent school should. If you can run but can't meet the same academic rigor as a non-athlete there should be no exception made just because you are good at some sport.

I don't expect every good academic school to also have a good XC team, but you'd expect more from a good academic one that's also a power 5 (power 4)

Duke women finished dead last 18th at ACC Meet behind schools like SMU and MIami! Hard to believe….something is not quite right there.

Right, because every college coach is looking to add a new 'worst guy' to their roster every year.

Yes. Something is not right. An elite academic school in an elite conference should be able to field a non-laughable team.

With that being said, they did not have a softball team until a couple of years ago so maybe the athletic department doesn't care about non-revenue sports.

They fired Reckart just so they could get last and not even try to field a full team at regionals?

She's at Villanova now and they are doing well.

This is another reason why I have such a low opinion of most NCAA D1 CC coaches. At D2 or D3, some are clawing their way t something bigger, but many just have to love it to be spending your time there, and you have no choice but to develop your talent.

D1 coaches are just looking to find kids already developed that will make them look good, and hang on to their job. It’s pathetic.

To be fair, at $30,000 a year, you have to be kind of an idiot to claw your way up to a job like that.

The coach has been there for like four months and walked into a very messy situation.

if you can't fill out a team for regionals you gotta start somewhere...

I hate this so much. It makes our sport look like jogging club. No football or basketball team would EVER turn down a shot at the post-season no matter how bad they were.
