Wow. I remember Matt Elliot being super inspirational to me back in the day. He had an interview on Flotrack talking about he was a 4:42 high school miler who never quit and made it to sub 4 and 4th at 2013 USAs. I wondered what happened to him since he never made it up to those ranks again but this is incredibly disappointing to see. He was such a feel good story back then but this is awful!
There has to be some former teammates or training mates that saw something right? I bet he got hired without a reference check. No way you stay in the sport and run at that level and people not see stuff. As a high school coach this stuff boils my blood. Let's just hope there isn't more victims that come forward and this be like all of the Huntington stuff that just went down.

I similarly remember being inspired watching him run at USAs summer before my senior year of high school. Gave me the motivation to take my training to another level and run in college. Hadn't thought about him in years so this sucks to see the curtain pulled back.
According to the Charlotte Observer, he was also found to be having an inappropriate relationship with ANOTHER student just last year. That brings the victim count to 2

Also they didn't fire him until a year after the first allegations? Wild. I feel bad for the victim who had her youth and birthday ruined by receiving a text from this creep who groomed her. This article also goes into detail about what he did to her so read with care.
