"coed division" as solution to "trans athletes as a wedge"

I like the idea, but not the term “coed”. How about “potpourri”?

In your scenario, would a trans girl (XY) who preferred to compete in the girls division still be allowed to do so, or prohibited?
If allowed, what would be the need for the coed division?
If prohibited, why?
I'm not sure the existence of a coed division provides any solution to the problem.

Yes, when a male takes a female’s place on the women’s team, it’s not fair to that female. What about her rights to compete in the category designated for her?

The mens / boys division is already coed. Its an open division. At high school level there are girls who have successfully competed in the boys division. Going back to the 1970s, Evelyn Ashford famously competed against boys.

Is this like a best of the girls worst of the boys league?

As a transgender hs runner, I appreciate your attempt to make things better, however, I don't believe this would fix anything. In fact, I believe this would make things worse. It would give parents and students a reason to discriminate against any minority and try to force them to run in this gender inclusive division instead of the division they wish to compete in. It would also allow coaches to discriminate against the students and force them to run (or compete) in this division. They would be able to say that it is not due to their gender or their disability because that division is available to anyone, boy, girl, trans, non-binary, or anything else. In theory, this could be a nice idea, but with the nature of (sadly) most athletes or families of athletes, this would cause more harm that good.

Are you proud of yourself for taking opportunities away from women?

The fairest thing is to just put all the miscellaneous people in with the men. Guys who want to be girls, girls who want to be guys and are on testosterone or whatnot as part of that journey, people who are riding the nonbinary trend and think that status entitles them to a different division somehow... you all get to run with the men. We welcome your participation. You don't get to use your Current Year silliness to get into the women's division or a special new division for like four people.

Coed is fine.

But, girls sports is just that girls sport.. Not unlike the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, we will never ever see a trans Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader.

Some things are simply man and woman. This bit about what you identify as is weak, nobody really cares about some fantasy you might have it's all about real life.

I think we'd all be fine with that. If men decided to run in this 3rd division, sure, if women did, fine.. and all trans people.

But I don't think the trans folks will be happy with that. Just a guess. You'd have to ask them.

You can go to Disney World and see men dressed in women's costumes.

Back in the 70's when women's sports were becoming " a thing" this law was passed so that schools wouldn't just make token efforts at providing sports for women.

Schools would just tell the girls that they had to be coached by the boys track coach, use the gym when the boys weren't using it for basketball, they might only be able to compete in a few contests/games, they might not have anything that resembled a uniform, maybe just a t-shirt with the school's name on it. Nobody but a few people took it seriously.

Now we have come full circle. It's a dang shame.

Who says I'm taking opportunities away from women? For all you know, I may be the slowest on my team. And anyways, all girls who make varsity are taking the opportunity to be on varsity away from other girls. My situation is no different.
