It was ArmstrongLivs accusing somebody of doping, and the second oldest post is Rekrunner replying saying that EPO doesn't work. They've been going back and forth ever since.

You can go back to 2002/3 posts in 2 seconds if you have basic internet acumen. There are threads on the death of Seamus McGelligot, a fast runner who died at 30, wired magazine, sex work in Thailand, a road race in Vermont, and Chris Lear's marriage.
I didn't start reading letsrun or posting until 2004ish but I recall fewer political trolls, more community, and more intelligent threads in the early days.

Makes me think of a cool movie. One where the main character discovers a post older than the forum. Even weirder, our protagonist also seems to be the author of the post When trying to show this to the other forum participants, the post can no longer be located. On subsequent mornings it appears again but with different contents. Yet sure enough, it vanishes as soon as it is discovered. Not even photos, screensshots, copy and pasting it or the like can capture it. One morning the original post appears to correctly predict all running event winners at the WC and Olypics between the start of the forum and the present. The protagonist realizes the implications this would have for betting, had one lived in the past. Frustrated by the situation an attempt is made to forget the whole thing by searching for the oldest video shared. Pausing it to go to the bathroom the character sees, upon returning that one of the faces in the crowd is vaguely familiar. The next morning things take an even stranger turn as the character wakes up as the person in the crowd. Unfortunately this is from a time before the internet and no one understands the predicament. Soon memories of the future self fade like a forgotten dream as the character goes about its daily routine as someone else. The teenage Gjert Ingebritsen writes off the whole experience as a weird drug trip. Attending the track meet as a youngster had nevertheless inspired him. Not so much to be a runner himself as a coach. What will the future hold? To find out, watch the prequel to Born to Run coming out in 2026. P. S. Don't go looking for that original post. Metempsychosis is no joke. P. P. S. Or is it?

This and there was almost always a hotness thread.

There used to be a Halloween pics thread every year when letsrun was more college runners and less greasy political trolls. Those were the interesting ones. I remember people asking various runner chics to be rated too, but that didn't usually take off, other than like Stokke and some chic from CA - Brie something.
Dyestat had a thread "post a pic of yourself" that was genius. You got hot people to share their photos willingly trying to one up one another.
This was back when myface and facecrap were young and not everyone was on them. These type of threads prob died bc you can get any picture from insta in 2 seconds these days.
Incredible…the original page 1 of lets run contains no political or racial vitriol
That stuff started showing up more often maybe a decade ago. The brojos should have created separate boards the way most v bulletin forums did so we wouldn't have to wade through it.
