Should the USA Consciously Uncouple for the Good of the People?

What values specifically are so important to cause the United States to "uncouple?"

Well, no. I honestly agree with you. But let's say it got bad, like in that movie I will not name. Would this be a better solution? Could it be made to work at all?

FWIW, my initial reaction was almost exactly what you wrote, but then I decided I should post it here to see what you thought. The more you think about it, the more you realize that you might not choose the side you think you support...

On a personal level, I like things how they are... currently.

Stop trying to divide our country and grow up.

This is probably a good idea, mainly to avoid a future civil war. I do know one of the sides will have all of the Starbucks, theaters, spoken word poetry clubs, effeminate men indistinguishable from women, Targets, electric scooters, and fat overweight tattooed women with purple hair, and the other side will have me and all the other freedom loving citizens. The former side will ultimately collapse because nobody will work and there will be no competent men with real jobs to tax to death, and also because everyone there thinks being gay is cool and hip so nobody will reproduce.

Every time some right winger brings this up they don't understand they are the stay at home mom in the relationship. Only way you are decoupling is if you are getting child support.

"Red" would instantly become a client state of "Blue." Totally reliant on "Blue" for economic activity, knowledge industries, and productive metro areas.

The only people who I see propose this are conservatives who seem to be upset that they need to live near liberals to not be poor.

"Red" would become the largest welfare state in history. I would make modern-day Europe look like an Ayn Rand novel with the amount of $$$ they would need from "Blue" to maintain current standards of living.

The best thing for the good of the people in the US is to reject divisive candidates like Donald Trump.

So is this an argument to “decouple” and lose that dead weight? If not, why?

Not geographically possible, but anyways an interesting thought experiment.

Though I appreciate your effort to contribute to the discussion, the link provided has very little to do with the majority of the reasons I gave for decoupling- first and foremost, governmental overreach into the common man’s (me) life. I should also add that I’m not a “right wing nut job”. I’m a naturalised American, and have parents that have been down this road before. I ideal with very personal experience. I can also tell you that our government absolutely does not care about you or me. It's important to keep in mind that these people hate every single one of us. It does not matter which side of the isle a person stands on. You and I mean absolutely nothing to them. That said- it’s very apparent that you’re extremely angry about something. And what that is, I cannot answer. My hope is that it’s not something political, considering my statement above. You and I should be on the same side, working together for the better.

I don't care what states do. I care what individuals do. You can have the trough feeders, Democrat or Republican, Red or Blue. That's what your side encourages and incentivizes anyway.
