Interesting, seems like he’s training to take over the assistant position once Mike Smith leaves, Cornfield takes over and Rupp steps into the assistant. In a few years Rupp would apply to a head coaching job which is what it seems like he want in the long run.

That’s awesome! Having Rupp as a coach is going to help them with recruiting.
Great athletes typically do not make great coaches. But what else is he going to do. Sit in a Nike office cubicle. That’s just torture.
Rupp seems like he could be a good coach. Of course he has a ridiculous amount of talent, but he has had a lot of injuries and understands the psychology. Now will he be able to teach these things to young Americans. That's the question.
He also had a different experience in hs and college and may not understand some of those grassroot runners.
Either way he's a great resource to any runner aspiring to do great things.
Problem number one is Rupp never got his undergrads degree from Oregon. That might be an issue for coaching college. Pros he’ll be fine
The only potential problem I see is Rupp’s decision to help out NAU instead of his alma mater. That’s gotta ruffle the feathers of Oregon Ducks alumni. But I don’t blame him for not wanting to help out Jerry, knowing the animosity Jerry had with Alberto back in the day.
Maybe Rupp will eventually take over the head coach position at Oregon whenever Jerry leaves.
You know half these voluntary coaches are just so they can use the facilities anytime they want
Rupp living at altitude = he's gonna pop a 2:04 any day now
He gonna use his altitude tent too?
Somehow, I don' think Galen Rupp would have any problem finding a facility to train when he wants one.

I thought Volunteer Coaches were no longer allowed under NCAA rules.
Don’t let the job thread see this. They will be upset that someone so unqualified and inexperienced got a golden ticket to volunteer coach at NAU
Volunteer Assistant Coach. Isn't this how Wetmore started out at Colorado?
