Absolutely heartbreaking for the two running communities she was so much a part of. Just a Google of her name shows how far reaching this story is. As someone who knew her in HS it makes me so happy to see her legacy spread so far. Rest easy Shelby you are so missed!!!

Based on my limited medical knowledge, for her to be this young and healthy with a brain aneurysym my first thought is possibly a clot caused by an atrial fibrillation that ultimately lodged into one of the arteries supplying blood to her brain. A lot of people don't know that AFIB can lead to blood clots. But most don't have a reason to know. Medical staff would need to be thorough in screening for potential heart rhythm disorders.
And for this increased of clotting risk, some individuals with AFIB are prescribed blood thinners.
