We forgot to say we are going to require registration to post in this thread as Nick Johnson suppporters have a history or using VPN's to make posts in his favor. If what you wrote is true, then why would the jury have found him guilty?
POS goes home devastated!
Will rephrase so the woke mods don't delete it. Look at Duke lacrosse and the Columbia mattress girl. A ton of these cases are hoaxes
Can't say I feel sorry for him.
Prior to this please remember Nick Johnson has ADMITTED to serious crimes involving a minor, driving that person out of state and abusing them.
I am glad that he was found guilty today. Those were some brave girls to speak out in the first place.
It's crazy that Adidas allows Nick or Lauren around one of their athletes. Perhaps they can find a better place to train and a better coach to train with.
It takes a lot for me to rejoice when someone is convicted of a felony, but I'm glad that Nick will finally be held accountable. Hoping for a harsh sentence on October 17. And I hope that they refile the doping charges.
I'm a pretty big Addy Wiley fan, but when there's an actual jury conviction like this (rather than just allegations or even charges), it does give me pause, esp. since she publicly denounced his accusers in this area. It's definitely good to be loyal to those who've supported you, to be disposed to thinking the best of them, and not to abandon them when things get tough (even when it's their fault), but this shouldn't be absolute.
Anyway, I'm still a Wiley fan, but having a hard time with this.
It’s wild Lauren stays with him. Does she have any self respect?
Now go after the "university" enabling these creeps.

"If the jury agreed, then it must be true." Not great logic given what we've seen in NYC and DC in recent years.
But in the case of Nick Johnson, the jury of 5 women and 3 men in Huntington, Indiana got it right.

Under criminal law, a defendant must be found guilty “beyond a reasonable doubt,” which means the evidence must be so strong that there is no reasonable doubt that the defendant committed the crime. That's an extremely high burden to meet, and eight people -- five women and three men -- felt the state met its burden, and it didn't take the jury long to reach this conclusion, which would further suggests that the evidence against the accused was extremely strong.
This sport is filled with creeps like this. I'd guess for every one that gets caught and charged there are a thousand that just skate through. The girls is embarrassed, doesn't want the attention, assumes nobody will believe her so these guys just go on fondling women, "massaging" them and taking advantage and blurring the lines between coach and boyfriend.
This one may be one of the worst because it's sex abuse stacked on top of drugs and doping AND the wife is in on it too!
I remember reading about a HS coach that referred to himself as The Dizzle. He was hosting alcohol fueled parties at his house, banging his runners, etc. But his situation sounded more like a hard partying dufus that was living out his fantasy of being the most popular kid in HS, this guy at Huntington is next level.
Rojo - I have no skin in this game nor do I have any opinion one way or the other about what happened. But, allow me to respond to your question about the conviction and question to supporters. Juries sometimes do get convictions wrong. I like to think that this occurs rarely, but it nevertheless does happen. Our trial system is imperfect.
One comment about the news article ... there is no 'plaintiff' in a criminal trial. I am not sure whose testimony the jury asked to review.
The article also referenced a federal civil complaint brought by former runners of this defendant, with accusations of forced doping programs. The article insinuates that the complaint was dismissed because the federal court determined that it was more appropriate to be filed in state court (further googling suggests that the court offered the plaintiffs an opportunity to amend the complaint to raise facts/claims that could keep the matter in federal court and it does not look like that was ever pursued). I have no idea whether a civil lawsuit was refiled in the state court either.
Overall, this is extremely troubling and disturbing behavior.
What about this entire situation makes you think the jury got it wrong? Think about the things NJ already fully admitted to and already did jail time for. It is a clear pattern of behavior.
The Federal Court dismissed the title IX claims against the university bc there was no evidence that a responsible person in a supervisory role at the university was aware of the alleged abusive behavior. The decision said nothing else, and nothing about doping. As to that, I would refer to the 28 page police investigation report that is a matter of public record. Based on that, NJ was running some type of Salazar inspired program at HU.
The whole situation was surreal from the beginning. But this is a sport that can be gamed.
