They just had a track meet in NYC celebrating women. Where the hell were America's top 2 female stars - Sha'Carri & Sydney?

I'm not a fan of hers but this is a slap in the face to the sport that pays her income.

Not only can athletes not forced to compete, people can’t be forced to watch.

This is so dramatic, relax. Its the end of September, not even sure why there are still track meets anyway.

Were there appearance fees for Athlos? I think people sort of forget or don’t realize that’s where the money is in these bigger meets. The appearance fee purse often is more than the prize purse.

That meet was lit! So wish I could've been there.

They didn't announce the 6th slot for 100m until a day before the meet, May have been holding it for Richardson. She pulled out of Diamond league final 200m after finishing last in 100m. Seems like her season/ form ended there. They spoke very positively of her during an intermission interview.

And Thomas was there, of course. She's more successful on the track than Richardson, so the meet did have a top two USA women's athlete there.

McLaughlin-Levrone races so little at coaches orders, this meet didn't seem to make the cut. After it's success maybe she'll ask permission next year. He let he do the diamond league exhibition races this year.

This meet was not worth the time that it took to watch the races. If that is what this athlos thing is- theyare going to have trouble getting anybody to spend time to attend or for media to give it any coverage.

The endorsements pay more than they sport does. You'd have to be very dense to not understand that. She brought in more viewers and fans than anyone else outside of Noah. She's not obligated to run every meet, when she shows up she wins. Who else can say that?

This meet was only boring to boring people like you who'd rather watch a men's 10,000 than women enjoying themselves and having fun. I'm sure you are the life of every party.

this is such a loser attitude for the sport

you need structure that forces athletes to compete. when the best in the world does billboards and tv ads and refuses to compete in non-olympics meets, that's terrible for the sport.

sports with real professionalism DO put obligations on the athletes to compete. football players can't just say i'm sitting until the superbowl and then have fans say "they don't have to do anything they don't want to do" - that's plainly ridiculous. even other individual sports like golf and tennis put more obligations on athletes.

maybe we should get rid of time qualifiers altogether and require athletes to earn spots in championships via competitions

She earns her income by being a generational talent and having excellent marketability. This isn’t charity, she doesn’t have to show up everywhere

This is all fine and dandy but why is Sydney the scapegoat for these issues. From all the hate one would think she hadn’t run the same number of meets as Sha’Carri this year.
