and Laramie really isn't that great from a trails perspective because Medicine Bow National Forest has soooo much snow all winter and the city doesn't have really nice soft-surface trails like Flagstaff/Boulder do

This is the single most delusional post in the history of this website.

They did beat the 8th and 12th ranked teams in the mountain region. Maybe their 7th place regional ranking is accurate. They can potentially make it to nationals if they have an outstanding regional race and beat a couple bubble teams.

They were 12th at the 2018 NCAA I National Championships:

The men will certainly qualify. The ladies won't. The ladies will have an individual qualifier.

But we'll find out how good they are in 2 weeks at Notre Dame.

You realize their team average was 25:19, right?

Their fastest runner was 25:07.

This race proves nothing.

You think the men are qualifying out of the mountain region "certainly"? NAU, BYU, Colorado, New Mexico, Montana St, Air Force, Texas Tech all in the same region its far from a certainty.

It was hot and hilly. Times don't matter in XC -- each race is specific to that race.

You obviously don't know anything about the Griak course. Very challenging with or without warm temperatures.

"Rolling hills and grassy terrain the entire course. The course was measured by
the shortest route from three foot off the line. In other words, the
distance was measured where the athlete in front would run tangent to
tangent. Each course is just over 105 meters long."

I have been there nearly every year over the past 20. Wyoming did well but I predict that they don't qualify.

Laramie is an underrated town. Great place to run when it isn't too cold or windy. Between two mountain ranges. But it is too cold and windy a lot.

great place to train except for the booming grizzly population. Get unlucky on a run and you become dinner

The people in CO looking for housing and sick of expensive $1M entry fees for a dumpy house, have long 10% joking, 90% not, talked about Laramie to get a similar front range fix.

First snowfall is 30 Sep, last one is 25 May, not unusual to see summer snow as well. Wind is brutal, never gets better. Horrible place to train, and nothing to do in that town, 45 miles to Cheyenne which isn’t much better. The team had a solid showing but terrible weather will impact their training before XC regionals. My money is they don’t qualify, they will be running on the indoor track most of the time

Complete nonsense. Snow is extremely rare in Sept. or October. Fall is beautiful in Laramie. It's a complete crapshoot from about the middle of November till May. It can get very cold. But Laramie doesn't get anywhere near the amount of snow that Flagstaff gets.

I have nothing against Laramie... But it is just a high plains town with none of the perks of Boulder or Flag in terms of immediate access to scenery right there in town. It isn't a long drive to some nice areas to run if weather permits...but in and around town... It is pretty desolate, windy and boring. Western Kansas with mountain views basically.

But it is good to see their team doing well. I remember that they actually held nationals there way back in the day. It was brutal on the sea level guys.
