Considering I just brushed the food off my teeth before I went to bed, I eat breakfast first and then brush the latest food off my teeth.
Same. You’ve got to brush before bed and not eat or drink anything but water thereafter, else it’s kinda icky, and it’s just more convenient to brush in the shower in the morning, which for me is usually after breakfast.
i brush before, just because shower is first thing i do as i roll out of bed. I also often eat after my night time shower and brushing as well.
I used to over think it and push the brushing back until after eating, but its often inconvenient and leads to missing some brushing in the schedule.
the brushing protects your teeth before eating, and I'm pretty sure the main idea of brushing is to get the gunk off your teeth before a certain amount of time has passed, and it turns to plaque, tarter or whatever. So as far as that goes, before or after eating doesn't matter, and your teeth will be good as long as you are brushing every 12 hours or so.

Generally speaking, after. Here is my reasoning: First, I drink orange juice at breakfast and drinking OJ after teeth brushing is not pleasant. Second, when I eat there is going to be food left that has the potential to just sit for many hours and potentially also give me bad breath (onions in an omelet for instance). So waiting until after gives me a fresher feeling breath to start the day.
An exception is that sometimes when I travel for work, mornings are tight and so I will brush my teeth, go down for breakfast and leave straight from breakfast. I do not have the time to go back to my room and brush my teeth.
I have to be honest and say I don't think I notice a big difference in the "freshness" of my breath after that.

I do not brush in the shower. That sounds disgusting to me. Having the tooth brush remain in a hot humid environment seems bad.

If you don't brush before eating, you're consuming your mouth bacteria along with your food.
Not to mention all of the food particles that end up all over your sink when you brush immediately after. If you have kids in the house, you know the mess I'm talking about.

After, because it feels counter productive to brush and then eat, which gets my teeth dirty again right away. Plus by brushing after I have fresh breath for at least a couple hours, until I eat something again.
